![]() We then turned the hand lever 6 or 7 times (literally 5 seconds of turning) and the apple was completely peeled. Once we attached the unit to our table we stuck an apple onto the 3 prongs of the peeler and placed the spring loaded blade on the outside of the apple. All of the embossed advertising and patent dates are bold and easy to read and it is simply wonderful to see the dates starting in 1872! This item is just a perfect example of early American kitchenware.When my family and I tried out this antique apple peeler for the first time, it amazed us to see just how easy it was to use this peeler. The wooden handle has the original black paint on it and there are no cracks in the wood. The peeler has wonderful Victorian style details and the open operating design makes this a very attractive piece. All of the mechanical parts are original and in perfect working condition and the blades of the peeler have remained very sharp over the 100+ years and an apple can be peeled with very little effort.
